Atunci John Newton s-a apropiat prima data de Dumnezeu. A inceput sa studieze teologia , a renuntat sa vanda oameni si in 1764 a fost hirotonit de Biserica Anglicana devenind preot. In 1773 scrie citeva versuri care-i insotesc predica rostita de la amvonul bisericii in prima zi a noului an. Predica de Anul Nou care a fost apoi pusa pe muzica! Mesajul lui e salvator si-n ziua de azi\u2026Intodeauna exista o milostivire neasteptata,AMAZING GRACE!\u2026Trebuie doar sa stim sa ne intoarcem spre Dumnezeu. Oricind! Si oricati sclavi am fi vandut !
